President’s letter – The future of our work
In his letter to the IATM community from November, IATM’s president Joachim Breuninger touches on the next annual conference and artificial intelligence as well as a call for action and contributions to the event.

Dear colleagues, dear friends, and dear IATM Community,
Next year, we will meet in Frankfurt and Mannheim from 14-17 September 2025 for our annual conference. The theme of the conference will be “The AI Shift: Transforming Transport and Communication Museums”.
I am sure many of you are already experimenting with AI in your daily work. Perhaps you have already developed or are currently planning an exhibition on AI, or you may have implemented AI in your processes, leading to changes in how you work.

..
.
At next year’s conference, we want to explore how AI might transform us and our museums: whether we need to rethink our approach to exhibition development or if AI will fundamentally change the way we manage our collections.
We are very interested in hearing about your experiences with AI and your best practices. Do you know of any projects outside our field that would also be valuable for our conference? What insights can you share about your work with AI?
Please consider how you might contribute to next year’s conference. If you cannot travel to Germany, we encourage you to participate online and share your experiences with us.
In the coming months, we will begin gathering ideas to create an engaging and memorable conference. Your contributions will be essential to making it a success. Please share your thoughts, comments, and ideas via mail.
Looking forward to your input!
Stay optimistic!
Joachim Breuninger
