Routes to Recovery
Due to the worldwide impact of the coronavirus, IATM have decided to cancel the annual conference in September in London. Over the next few weeks the IATM board is planning a one day virtual conference on Monday 28 September, ‘Routes to Recovery’, with a series of online webinars open to all IATM members on how transport and communications museums are planning their operational and financial futures. Full details will be available by the end of June but please keep the date free. We are also reviving our online presence as meeting face-to-face will be difficult for some time. Material culture produced by forced labour
Ian Brown, Assistant Curator of Aviation at National Museums Scotland is in the early stages of research into the material culture produced by forced labour during the Holocaust and how this is represented and interpreted in museum collections. He would be interested to hear from anyone carrying out similar research or with such collections in their museum. He can be contacted at i.brown@nms.ac.uk.

Call for paper: Sustainable museums
Dear Colleagues, Share your best practice and ideas with us! In September 2019 we’ll come together in Berlin, Germany. The International Association of Transport and Communications Museums invites you to shape the conference by submitting an innovative and forward-thinking proposal for paper presentations or workshops/interactive sessions by Friday, 31st May 2019. Proposals must relate to the following subthemes. Dear Members of IATM, I want to wish you a wonderful start to this new year and every success in your endeavours. This past year we were able to come together at the conference here in Ottawa and enjoy Canada’s capital city and our time together. Presidents letter: Join us at this year’s conference!
Dear IATM members and non-members, This past year we had a wonderful conference that took us to Lucerne, Berne and through the historic tunnels to the Ticino district of Switzerland on the Italian border. We were warmly welcomed by the Transport Museum in Lucerne, the Museum of Communication in Berne and to Bellinzona in Ticino and the Castello Sasso Carbero. As always it was wonderful to bring together colleagues from museums facing the same issues with the same lack of resources. You can read the full report at here. IATM invites you to submit papers for the 43rd conference which will be held in Ottawa at 15- 17 (optional 18) October 2018. As usual we will start the conference with a Meet & Greet on Sunday, 14 October at the evening.
