Euphoria machine – past and present of the historical “Adler”-train

The „Adler“, the locomotive of the first German railway, is an icon of the German Railway history. While the original engine, built by Stephenson in 1835, got lost in the 19th century, the DB Museum possesses an operating replica which was built 1935. On the top of three rebuilt cars, this reconstructed “Adler” nowadays performs touristic trips in the Nuremberg region and charms both passengers and spectators along the rails. The lecture tells the amazing history from the loss of the original to the reconstruction of this legendary locomotive and shows the nowadays challenge of using a historical replica for leisure trips.
