Call for paper: Sustainable museums

Share your best practice and ideas with us!

In September 2019 we’ll come together in Berlin, Germany. The International Association of Transport and Communications Museums invites you to shape the conference by submitting an innovative and forward-thinking proposal for paper presentations or workshops/interactive sessions by Friday, 31st May 2019. Proposals must relate to the following subthemes.

  • Sustainable Collections: Collection management preservation/disposal, storage practicalities, risk management/ safeguarding
  • Economic sustainability: diversify sources of financing, “efficiency with conscience”, sharing economy
  • Social sustainability: relationships, audiences, local/ global communities, staff/skills/knowledge
  • Environmental sustainability: energy efficiency, climate change, waste, resources, dealing with hazardous substances

If you would like to present, please use our proposal form which you can find below or here. You will need the following: title, learning objectives, short/long descriptions.

We would be pleased if you share your experiences, questions and ideas successes and failures with us. We encourage you to use new learning formats and active mediation formats. Please keep your presentation brief and concise. It should not exceed 15 minutes and should encourage discussion afterwards.
